As a Camp Director, you will assume direct responsibility for the development, implementation and management of high quality YMCA Camp Kitaki programs that aim to position the YMCA as the leading provider of youth development, outdoor education and camping programs.  Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Directs and supervises Camp Kitaki youth summer camp programs and year around camp out programs with additional responsibilities across all Camp Kitaki programs and services.  

Youth Camps and Programs Include: Summer Camps and year-round campout programs.
Teen Camps and Programs Include: Summer Camps, travel camps, and year-round counselor in training program.

    • Plans, coordinates and oversees camp programs to include program content, staff supervision and training, ordering/stocking supplies, cabin assignments, camper behavior, and discipline problems, etc.
    • Assures ACA Standards are being met.
    • Visually and auditorily observes and assesses situations within programs for safety, security and to detect adherence to policies.  Communicates with and develops actions plans with participants, parents/guardians, school partners, etc. as needed.

    ​​​​Educational Enrichment Activities

    • Plans, coordinates and oversees camp activities (such as aquatics, challenge course, makerspace, nature etc.) including curriculums, staff supervision and training, ordering/stocking supplies, safety protocols, and area management, etc.
    • ​Assures ACA Standards are being met.
    • ​Visually and auditorily observes and assesses situations within programs for safety, security and to detect adherence to policies.  Communicates with and develops actions plans with participants, parents/guardians, school partners, etc. as needed.
    • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.  Implements continuous program improvement processes and establishes new program activities as needed to better serve community members, YMCA members and program participants.
    • Directly carries out supervisory responsibilities to effectively manage personnel in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; auditing and appraising performance; approving and reporting payroll; conducting staff meetings; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

     

    This position is located in Louisville, NE and includes onsite living and extended hour:

    • Summer Season:  Requires onsite summer living and or extended duty hours. 
    • Special Events:  Requires overnight extended on duty hours as needed for event.
